Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi an initiative by government of India in which 120 million small and marginal farmers who have less than 2 hectares  landholding will get up to 6000 per year as minimum income support The initiative was announced by Piyush Goyal during the 2019 interim Union Budget of India on 1 February 2019.In the Union Budget, the government has allotted Rs.75000 crore to fund the P.M- KISAN Scheme.

On 24 February 2019, Narender Modi launched the scheme in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur by transferring the first installment of 2000 each to over one crore farmers. It is cash transfer scheme. The first installment of Rs.2000 under the income benefit scheme was handed over the farmers on 24 February. NDA government will transfer Rs.25000 crore into banks of more than 12 crore farmers across the country under PM- Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) has been launched. It was started by the creative minds of the politicians and they wanted to ensure Indian farmer must future ready. The scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of the farmers in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income. After the budget announcement of PM Kisan Samman Nidihi Yojana, there was wave of happiness among farmer of India. The scheme promise Rs.6000 per annum in three equal tranches to smalls and marginalized farmers with land holding of up to two hectare .Adhaar has been made an optional by the government for availing the first installment under the PM-KISAN Scheme. It seems to be a season of bonanza for distressed farmers as many state governments have already declared packages of loan write offs for small and medium land-owning farmers. Farmers also would be able to promise their children to provide quality education.
