MTCR AND INDIA

Missile Technology Control Regime is a multiple export regime. India becomes 35th member of MTCR. MTCR seeks to limit the risks of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.Why did India join MTCR? That's because being a member of MTCR India would be able to buy surveillance drones from other countries like the American predator drones. India would have overall development both in technology and economy. MTCR membership will enable India to buy high end missile technology. India’s interest and effort to get into MTCR also got boost after it agreed to join the Hague Code of Conduct. MTCR was established in April 1987, by G-7 countries for holistic development. Now India can buy high end missiles and run joint programmes for skill development of unmanned aerial vehicles. Didn’t India have any complication? India would just being a member of regime will have some obligation like sharing critical information about its military and technology assets Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar Signed MTCR, aimed to preventing unchecked proliferation of missiles. it would also enhance the level of understanding between MTCR member nation and India, allowing the latter to import technologies for peaceful purpose.
